The Office of Outreach and Engagement has played a significant role in the establishment or the ongoing operations of the following two initiatives that engage faculty, staff and students.


LiFEsports

In 2019, the Office of Outreach and Engagement awarded a $20,000 grant to the LiFEsports program to support education and research. The focus of this program is to enhance the quality of youth development, sport, and recreational programs through service and outreach, teaching and learning, and research, thereby increasing positive developmental outcomes for youth.

College of Social Work

An off-cycle grant ($5,000) was awarded to the College of Social work to continue expansion of a partnership with the Columbus Departments of Parks and Recreation, in support of the UNITY Fridge Program that is adopting the Beatty Community Center Garden. In collaboration with Ohio State LiFEsports and the Capital Kids Program, the team will create a community garden and programming surrounding healthy eating and farming. This garden is key to increasing produce accessibility in addition to increasing knowledge around healthy habits.


STEAM Factory

Annually, through a Memorandum of Understanding, the Office of Outreach and Engagement contributes $40,000 to the STEAM Factory in support of their ongoing programming. STEAM Factory objectives: To provide opportunities for collaboration that enhance and drive innovation within all research disciplines; to provide linkages and interdisciplinary interactions between Ohio State departments and colleges; and to increase the public awareness, understanding and impact of Ohio State research.
